One thing that an expat experiences when transferring to a new place is the lack of people to keep you company. Of course there's probably your family and some friends, but aside from them, there's nobody else you know. What you need is a community in which you will belong.

For starters, go online. There are a lot of expat communities that thrive in the World Wide Web. This BANewcomers Yahoo group is one. I hope this'll help.
