Hi Ilene,
I just moved to Buenos Aires and from what I can see the day to day prices are very similar to at home in the US. Bread and meat can be pretty cheap but newspapers and clothes are pretty much the same price range, it may be a little cheaper to eat out.
car rental is Alto $50 day plus insurance and tax.
2 You can't buy a gal. A liter is ~1.00 Bread, $.50 USD
You can eat out for about the same price as you cook at home because grocery are expensive in the store?? it is strange.
The also give you a lot of food in the rest. and you can alway take it with you.
